Resurrection of Christ (Bright Monday) – Metropolitan of Strumica, Nahum
~+~
These Easter days are beautiful, but it is a pity that we experience their beauty temporarily, through the extraordinary grace of God, instead of living it through the personally adopted regular grace of God – constantly.
The goal of our Christian life is the Resurrection. However, the goal is not the Resurrection from the dead – after this life, which no one will escape, but the Resurrection of Christ while still in this life. Our very life should be, in fact, the Resurrection of Christ – as a manifestation of the grace of Baptism from our heart and the transfiguration of our entire being.
This phenomenon was called the actualisation of the grace of Baptism by the hesychast fathers of the Church. We are created and no one and nothing created can transfigure and save man, except personal communion with the Uncreated God. Therefore, we should direct our created energy towards communion with the uncreated energy of God.
The uncreated Grace of Baptism through which we enter into personal communion with God is the grace of Christ’s Death and Resurrection; “Are we not baptised into His Death and Resurrection?” The same applies to the grace of monasticism. If we want to be united with this grace, we must die to sin and be alive to God, in Christ Jesus our Lord – through the fulfilment of His commandments.
Christ is Risen!
