 Manifestation of God, the Holy Trinity

This is a precious day, a great day for the world and for mankind: – Epiphany. On this day, God manifested (was revealed) Himself to humanity offering peace and deliverance. On this day, the whole creation rejoiced because God renewed the fallen man and the world through the water.

With the Baptism of the Lord in the river Jordan, Mankind is renewed and sanctified. By the entering of Jesus into the waters (river Jordan), they were sanctified and all nature with them. With the manifestation of the Father and the descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of Dove, Heaven opened and the Holy Trinity has revealed Itself to us.

“At that time the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told to them.

After eight days were fulfilled the time came for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.”

In order to make it easier to understand the event of the circumcision of the God-Man Christ (Luke 2: 20–21; 40), we need to remind ourselves of two things.

First; the words of Christ:

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one iota will by no means pass from the law. Till all is fulfilled.”   (Matthew 5: 17-18).

And secondly:

Everything the God-Man in the God’s Dispensation has done is for us and for our salvation, not for Himself: and he gave it as a gift to us through the Church.

Reading today’s Gospel, I recall the prayer we pronounce at the end of the Divine Liturgy, before the Holy Chalice on the altar:

“Christ, our God, being Yourself the fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets; You have fulfilled the entire redemptive (salvific) Dispensation of the Father, fill our hearts with joy and gladness, always, now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen “.

„Во она време, се вратија пастирите, славејќи Го и фалејќи Го Бог за сè што чуја и видоа, како што им беше речено. А кога се навршија осум дена, за да биде обрезан Младенецот, Му ставија име Исус, известено од ангелот уште пред да биде зачнат во утробата.“

За полесно да го сфатиме настанот на обрезанието на Богочовекот Христос (Лука 2, 20–21; 40), најнапред треба да се потсетиме на две работи.

Прво, на зборовите Христови: „Немојте да мислите дека сум дошол да го поништам Законот или Пророците; не сум дошол да ги поништам, туку да ги исполнам“ (Матеј 5, 17–18).

И второ, сè што Богочовекот во Божјиот Домострој направи, за нас и наше спасение го направи, а не за Самиот Себе; и ни го предаде во Црквата на дар.

Читајќи го денешното евангелие, се потсетив на молитвата која ја изговараме на крајот од Божествената Литургија пред светиот Путир на жртвеникот: „Христе, Боже наш, Ти Самиот си исполнување на Законот и Пророците; Ти си го исполнил сиот спасителен Домострој на Отецот, исполни ги со радост и веселост нашите срца, постојано, сега и секогаш и во вечни векови. Амин“.

DIVINELY-WISE TEACHER

OF THE UNIVERSE

Saint Basil is a fiery pillar of the Church, one of the three supporting pillars of the Church’s teachings, together with Saints Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. He is the bearer of the Cappadocian school, which establishes the basic dogmas of the Holy Trinity, of God, on which all Pneumatology and Christology in the Orthodox Church will later be built, in defense against heresies.

It is enough just to say – Saint Basil the Great, and to get a clear idea of a holy man, a man of God, a righteous man, a living icon of Christ. Bishop, zealot and unwavering fighter for the Orthodox Church. Full of grace theologian and seer of God, teacher of the universe, guardian of dogmas and light of the Orthodox faith. Inspired through the breath of God, organiser of the Holy Liturgy and church worship, apostolic editor of the canonical order in the Church and the conciliar organisation.

Venerable ascetic and perfect monk, founder of monasticism, editor of monastic rules and father of monks. Tolerant (understanding) pastor, who converts the deluded, comforter of the weak and protector of the poor, and, orphans.

Few people receive the title “Great” in the Church, and Saint Basil is one of those few who received this epithet because of his holy and praised life. How Saint Basil was Great is shown by the fact that he received that title while he was still alive.

БОГОМУДАР УЧИТЕЛ
НА ВСЕЛЕНАТА

Свети Василиј е огнен столб на Црквата, еден од трите носечки столбови на учењето на Црквата, заедно со светите Григориј Богослов и Јован Златоуст. Тој е носител на Кападокиската школа, која ја поставува базичноста на догматите за светотроичноста на Бог, врз која подоцна ќе се надгради и сета пневматологија и христологија во Православната Црква, во одбрана против ересите.

Доволно е само да се каже – свети Василиј Велики, и да се добие јасна претстава за свет човек, маж Божји, праведник, жива икона на Христос. Архиереј, ревнител и непоколеблив борец за Православната Црква. Облагодатен богослов и боговидец, учител на вселената, чувар на догматите и светлина на православната вера. Боговдахновен устроител на Светата Литургија и црковното богослужение, апостолски уредувач на канонскиот поредок во Црквата и соборната организација.

Преподобен подвижник и совршен монах, основач на монаштвото, уредувач на монашките правила и татко на монасите. Снисходлив пастир, кој ги обраќа заблудените, утешител на немоќните и заштитник на сиромашните и сираците.

Називот Велики малкумина го добиваат во Црквата, а свети Василиј е еден од тие ретки што го добиле овој епитет поради неговиот свет и восфалуван живот. Колку свети Василиј бил Велик зборува податокот дека тој назив го добил уште додека бил жив.
