In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Today is Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles – The Day of the Holy Spirit, the manifestation of the Holy Trinity, the feast of the Church of God Itself. On this day when the holy Apostles were gathered together in one accord in the upper room in Jerusalem, waiting for the promised Comforter, the Holy Spirit, God established the Church.
As great as the celebration of Epiphany is, as great as the feast of Resurrection, Transfiguration and Ascension is, just as great is this feast of the Holy Trinity, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. For if it did not happen, then all these events of the life of the God-Man Jesus Christ would have no effect. With the descent of the Holy Spirit a seal was given to all this events, and they received their conclusion (effect), and consequently, there is conclusion of the whole Dispensation (Providence, Economy) for the salvation of man from God Himself, the Holy Trinity. Therefore, today is His day, God’s Day and the day of the Church.

Во Името на Отецот и Синот и Светиот Дух
Денес е Педесетница – слегувањето на Светиот Дух врз апостолите – Духовден, објавувањето на Света Троица, празникот на самата црквата Божја. На овој ден кога светите Апостоли беа собрани еднодушно во горницата во Ерусалим, чекајќи го ветувањето на утешителот Светиот Дух, Бог ја основа Црквата.
Како што е голем празникот на Богојавлението, Воскресението, Преобрежанието и Вознесението, така е голем и овој празник на Светата Троица – слегувањето на Светиот Дух врз Апостолите. Aко не се случеше, тогаш сите овие настани од животот на Богочовекот Исус Христос, ќе немаа ефект. Со слегувањето на Светиот Дух се дава печат на нив и тие добиваат свој завршеток (ефект), а со тоа се завршува и домострој за спасението на човекот од Словото Божјо, Богочовекот Исус Христос, а продолжува Светиот Дух во Црквата и со тоа се објавува целата Света Троица. Затоа денес е и Негов ден, ден Божји и ден на Црквата. (more…)

“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” (John7, 37-39)
The Holy Spirit the Lord enters and acts in a special way in the Church and in the world on the day of Pentecost. The Church becomes the Body of Christ. Anyone who is baptized into the Church receives the uncreated grace of the Holy Spirit in his heart. And if with his ascetic-hesychastic and liturgical-catholic life, under the supervision of and obedience to his spiritual father, one activates and actualizes that grace, rivers of living water will flow from his heart.

„А во последниот голем ден од празникот застана Исус и извика со висок глас, велејќи: ’Кој е жеден, нека дојде при Мене да пие! Кој верува во Мене, од неговата утроба, како што е речено во Писмото, ќе потечат реки од жива вода‘. А ова го рече за Духот, Кого што ќе Го примат оние кои веруваат во Него; оти Светиот Дух уште не им беше даден, бидејќи Исус уште не беше прославен“.
Светиот Дух Господ на посебен начин влегува и делува во Црквата и во светот на денот од светата Педесетница. Црквата станува Тело Христово. Секој што е крстен во Црквата ја прима несоздадената благодат на Светиот Дух во своето срце. И доколку со својот аскетско-исихастички и литургиско-соборен живот, под надзор и во послушание на својот духовен отец, ја активира и ја актуализира таа благодат, од неговата утроба ќе потечат реки од жива вода.

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Knowledge of God is not faith, it is not fantasy, it is not thinking, it is not an idea, it is not reading, it is not intellectual knowledge, it is not worldly education, it is not a good upbringing, it is not a custom, etc… And one finds himself robustly interpreting a purely affirmative phenomenon – something that is obtainable and can be known by experience. Unfortunately, he does not have the experience – therefore it is what it is.
Knowledge of God in the Orthodox Church means a full-of-grace experience of God in a purified heart, through the Orthodox spiritual life under the supervision of and obedience to a spiritual father, manifested as the prayer of the mind in the heart and made conscious (realized) by the enlightened mind. Only such knowledge of God certainly means eternal life.
From today’s Gospel reading (refer to: John 17: 1–13) we will pay special attention to the following passage: “Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You; For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known (understood) surely that I came forth from You, and they have believed that You have sent Me”
