This feast (holy day) is the feast of the feasts, because in this feast are celebrated several feasts (holy days) in one. The Transfiguration of Christ is celebrated, who was transfigured and made manifest His Divine nature, having in addition the human one. He revealed Himself complete as God and complete as Man (perfect God and perfect Man). The Holy Trinity, which appeared in Three Persons, is celebrated. Christ, the Son of God, was transfiguring on the Mount before the Apostles; The Holy Spirit, through the transfiguring grace, appeared in light and the Father with the voice that testifies: “This is My Beloved Son”. The Church is also celebrated, which is announced through Christ together with the Apostles and Prophets. The Old Testament Church and the New Testament Church, in One Holy and Catholic (Universal) Church. Furthermore, the Transfiguration of the Apostles is also celebrated, which is actually the essence of our existence and the reason for which God created us and for which God came in the flesh and became a man, which is also the most significant for us.

This event is not an illusion, this event is not a fable, a myth or some symbolism. Nor is this light created, as some teach and blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. This light is uncreated and it is the energy of God. Uncreated (intangible)grace of God, which proceeds from God’s nature and is given to man to commune with God, and, be one with God. If this light had been created, then all this would have been just a good show. Our faith would be a fable and a myth, and our life would be in vain and false. But our Church is not a theatre. Our Church is a living reality and an icon of the Kingdom of Heaven. In this way, God showed that the Lord Jesus Christ is true God and therefore came into the world and became a true Man, so that we, participating in that energy, receive it and become sons of God, gods by grace.

Овој празник е празник на празниците, затоа што во него се слават повеќе празници во едно. Се прославува Преображението на Христос, Кој се преобрази и ја покажа својата Божествена природа, имајќи ја покрај тоа и човечката. Се откри како потполн Бог и потполн Човек.

Се празнува Светата Троица, Која се јави во три лица.

Христос, Синот Божји, се преобразуваше на Гората пред Апостолите; Светиот Дух, преку преобразувачката благодат се јави во светлина и Отецот со гласот кој сведочешe: “Oва е Мојот возљубен Син“.

Се празнува и Црквата, Која се објавува преку Христос заедно со Апостолите и Пророците. Старозаветната и новозаветната, во Една Света и Соборна Црква. А се слави и Преображението на Апостолите, кое всушност е суштина на нашето постоење и причина за кое што Бог не створи и за кое што Бог дојде во тело и стана човек, што и за нас е и нај значајно.

Овој настан не е привид, овој настан не е приказна, мит или некаква симболика. Ниту пак оваа светлина е тварна, како што учат некои и хулат на Светиот Дух. Оваа светлина е нетварна и таа е енергија Божја. Нетварна благодат Божја, која се пројавува од Божјата природа и му се дава на човекот да заедничари со Бога и да биде едно со Бога. Ако веќе оваа светлина беше тварна, тогаш сето ова ќе беше само добра  престава. Нашата вера ќе беше приказна и мит, а нашиот живот ќе беше залуден и лажен. Но нашата Црква не е театар. Таа е жива реалност и икона на Небесното Царство. Бог на овој начин покажа дека Господ Исус Христос е вистински Бог и затоа дојде во светот и стана вистински Човек, за да ние учествувавајки во таа енергија, ја примиме и станеме синови Божји, богови по благодат.

If we were to ask the people in church, who are celebrating today’s feast; “Why are we gathered here?” they would immediately answer that today is the Transfiguration of the Lord. I am not saying that the answer is not correct, but I must say that it is in need of further interpretation using the teachings of the Holy Fathers of the Church.

We should search for the interpretation of the Holy Fathers in the written tradition of the Holy Fathers and in the sacramental tradition in our heart, and not ignore it unjustifiably. Even Gregory Palamas said: “Let’s run away from those who do not accept the interpretations of the Holy Fathers, but they try to introduce something contrary by themselves!” They pretend to respect the words of the Holy Scriptures, whereas they actually reject the godly understanding of those words.”

I am certain that the traditional believers do not think much about the meaning of the feast, as well as of all its soteriological dimensions. Such an approach is very close to the red line of introducing something erroneous of their own accord.

Кога би ги прашале луѓето во црква, кои го празнуваат денешниот празник, зошто сме собрани овде, тие веднаш би одговориле дека денес е Преображение Господово. Не велам дека одговорот не е точен, но морам да кажам дека бара светоотечко толкување.

Светоотечкото, пак, толкување треба да го бараме и во пишаното предание на Светите отци и во светотаинското предание во нашето срце, а не неоправдано да го превидуваме. Уште Григориј Палама рекол: „Да бегаме од оние кои не ги прифаќаат светоотечките толкувања, туку се обидуваат самите од себе да воведат нешто спротивно! Преправајќи се дека ги почитуваат зборовите на Светото Писмо, всушност го отфрлаат нивното побожно разбирање“.

Уверен сум дека особено традиционалните верници не размислуваат многу за значењето на празникот, како и за сите негови сотириолошки димензии. Ваквиот пристап е многу близок до црвената линија самите од себе да воведат нешто погрешно.

The multiplication of the loaves and the fishes (Matthew 14: 14–22) is a seemingly evangelical event about which nothing special can be said except to glorify the God-Man Jesus Christ and His miracle done for us and our salvation. But is that all? However, let’s try to find the deeper meaning …

It is important in our lives to have the will for a good deed – in (for) the glory of God and out of love for our neighbour, the rest is God’s work. The apostles see the need of the people to eat, they want to help, but they are aware that they are powerless to help and they turn to the Lord – ready to obey His word.
